Match Report:

The Youth XV continued their successful start to the season against a Maesteg Celtic outfit, who should be given full credit for fulfilling this fixture. Despite only having eleven players available due to the non-appearance of half a dozen others, the officials and players traveled to play the game.

Even with the loan of players, coupled with the Celtic players' eagerness to play and compete, the quality of the Magpie team was too great for them.

Mention also for some intelligent refereeing from young Sion Aled Higgins from Ammanford.

By half-time the Magpies had built up a lead of 43-7 with tries by Matthew Riordan, Aled Lewis (2), Alex Rees, Daniel Wood, Dean Evans and Owain Jones with Dean Evans converting four.

The second-half saw further tries added by: Owain Jones, Matthew Gibson (2), Aled Lewis, Matthew Lemon and James Hunt, with one conversion each to Dean Lewis and Matthew Lemon.

The team are sure to face tougher challenges over the next few weeks with friendly games scheduled against Felinfoel and Ystrad Rhondda before they face the tough challenge of their first league encounter away at Brynammon.
