| Match Report: The Magpies continued their rich vein of form with another hard earned victory against local rivals Cefneithin. Both teams to their credit tried to play and open game in difficulty conditions. Tumble's forwards dominated the early stages and breaks by Aled Lewis, Jamie Cooper and Aled Hughes allowed Rhys Jones to crash over for an unconverted try. With the wind at their backs, Tumble's Daniel Griffiths and Chris Powell kicked astutely and kept the home team pinned down. This, coupled with a strong front row unit of James Stephens, Cieran Guest and Aled Hughes enabled sufficient ball to be used for lively back James Hunt to score a try which Powell converted. Cefneithin had sporadic bursts into Tumble territory but, with Dion Gealy, Gareth Davies and Matthew Riordan showing their defensive qualities, the Magpies line was never breached. Daniel Wood and Darren Williams then foraged hard for the ball and their efforts led to prop Stephens bursting over for his first try. The second half saw Steven Mills and Samuel Davies replace Hunt and Dion Gealy and it was to their credit that they were able to stop a lively Cefneithin back row from posing too much danger. Griffiths continued to marshal his forwards effectively and Lewis, Jones and Cooper put in some big hits. With fifteen minutes of normal play left, Darren Williams made the game safe when he charged over wide out. Stephen Rees came on as replacement and the final act of an entertaining game saw prop Stephens collect his second try which was converted by Chris Powell. |
